A cultural evening was organized by the Department of Art, Culture and Youth at Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir, Patna. In this event, Principal Secretary of Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar and famous Bharatnatyam dancer, Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi and famous Indian classical music singer Rajneesh Kumar performed.
Dr. Vijay Prakash, former senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service, former Chief Secretary and currently Chairman of Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission, Aamir Subhani, former Chief Secretary and current Chief Information Commissioner, Bihar, Brajesh Mehrotra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, Dr. S. . Siddharth, Principal Secretary of Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Bihar and famous Bharatnatyam dancer Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi, Secretary of Art, Culture and Youth Department, Mr. Dayanidhan Pandey, senior litterateur, Mrs. Mamta Mehrotra, Mrs. Mridula Prakash, famous Indian classical music singer Rajneesh Kumar and other distinguished guests inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.
Renowned Bharatnatyam dancer Dr N Vijayalakshmi started her program with Ganesh Vandana composed by Tulsidas. After this, a captivating presentation of “Mahishasurmardini ‘e Giri Nandini” composed by Shankaracharya was given. He concluded the Bharatnatyam dance program with ‘Mahalakshmi Stotra’. The second presentation of today’s cultural evening was the presentation of Bada Khayal and Chhota Khayal along with Thumri in Raga Yaman by Rajneesh Kumar, a famous classical and sub-classical music singer of Bihar. The lyrics of the thumri were ‘Nadan Jiyra Gum Gayo Re’ and the second thumri was ‘Rang Rangili Rasili Chhavi Brijnar Ki.’ The artistes who accompanied him included Dr. Shyam Mohan on Tabla, Sudhir Kumar on Harmonium, Arthav Manas and Hemant Kumar on Tanpura.
During the program, Director of Cultural Affairs Ruby, Deputy Secretary, Anil Kumar Sinha, Administrative Officer of Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir, Sushant Kumar along with music lovers of Patna, litterateurs, famous persons, artists as well as officials of Art, Culture and Youth Department were present. About 400 people participated. Soma Chakraborty staged the program.
